 Going Green
It’s not just our plants that are green at Oconomowoc Garden Center. Not only do we strive to offer organic garden care products, plants from sustainable sources and green advice, but the tools that help you grow green as well.
Some of our top staff recommendations –
Compost bins are a great way to recycle yard and kitchen waste and an economical way to create an organic soil amendment full of nutrients. Lighten up that garbage bag and recycle those food scraps!

Rain barrels catch the run-off from the impervious surface of your roof and help conserve one of the most valuable resources – water.

Native plants are a natural way to go green. Natives are the plants adapted to the soils and conditions of our region, support our native wildlife, birds and butterflies and provide a palette of unmatched beauty. Native plants are essential to a beautiful, successful Rain Garden, a simple way to create beauty in the landscape and help prevent water run-off.

This year we are happy to offer more plant selections in compostable pots. Compostable pots are made from rice hulls and are easily recycled in the compost pile. These pots will eventually break down later to be added to the soil as an amendment. So much better than those plastic non-recyclable plant containers!
We are proud to offer a line of organic vegetables and herbs with all the accoutrements to help keep your garden organic, healthy and green.
